Rafael graduated with honours from the Escuela Nacional de Gymnastica Havana, Cuba and went on to study percussion at the Eva Paulita Concepcion Havana, cuba and Contemporary Modern and Folkloric dance with classical trainin at the Escuela National Del Arte, from which he also graduated with honours. there he was selceted to go and dance in Mexico with the youth dance company 'Soneritos'.
