Burju and Victor Perez are directors of world renowned Hacha Y Machete or HYM dance company. Since the group’s inception in 2000, HYM has achieved worldwide recognition for their innovative and dynamic choreographies, and award winning instruction.  Having toured over 100 cities worldwide teaching and performing, their current schedule includes 2-3 weekends a month of travel abroad to International Salsa and Latin Festivals.  When they are not traveling they direct and choreograph for national award winning teen group Ritmo En Accion.  They also teach and manage other teachers in the “Learn Through Dance” in-school Latin dance program in Boston Public Schools.  Burju is also a judge for the World Salsa Championships and has her own line of amazing dance shoes called Burju Shoes.
